About

Hi!

My name is Nick.

Born on the South Side of Minneapolis, I’ve always known that words were my calling. I’ve spent years refining a storytelling style shaped by life experience and crafted cadences, creating the kind of art I wish I had when I was younger. My work pulls back the veil on generational trauma, the demons that haunt us, and the resilience that keeps us breathing.

Events

Each summer, I host a monthly series of combined creative writing workshops and poetry open mics called Crafted Cadence. Each event features an opening reading from a local poet.  2025 events to be announced. Bring a friend, a notebook, something to scribble with, and an open mind and heart. Let's create something.

Mental Health Mondays

A space for candid reflections on mental health, where I explore the power of grief, the necessity of healing, and the journey toward self-acceptance.

Continuing on #mentalhealthmonday (and promising more consistent posts). According to a Harvard University study, 45% of young adults (ages 18-25) reported that a general sense of things falling apart was impacting their mental health. It's relatable, right? What ever happened…

Today's #mentalhealthmonday post is about finding purpose. More than half of young adults today struggle with that, and I can relate.

One way I've found #purpose or meaning in my everyday life is to try to better the world around…

For today's #mentalhealthmonday, I'd like to talk about financial worries and achievement pressure. Something all people face, and especially those working in creative industries.

Every waking moment of every second of my existence, I am under pressure to prove…

It's #mentalhealthmonday and I've had a lot on my mind around this topic lately. Let's talk about #relationship deficits and how they relate to mental health. 44% percent of young adults reported a sense of not mattering to others, and…

September is National Recovery Month. So, for today's #mentalhealthmonday, I want to talk about recovery. It's a sad truth that only roughly 10-15% of young adults who suffer with #substanceabuse receive treatment, from inpatient services to attending meetings like…

    09.09.24

Today's #mentalhealthmonday post weighs heavy. It's no secret that I lost my younger brother, Ben, to suicide a few years ago. It's also no secret that I struggle with my own mental health. But that's why these posts are so…

This #MHM, I'd like to talk about #sobriety -- and what it looked like when I wasn't sober. The WHO estimates 400 million people live with alcohol use disorders, and 209 million are dependent on alcohol.

    I remember well…

13.2 million U.S. adults seriously considered suicide last year. If you’ve had those thoughts, please know you’re not alone -- call or text 988 for help.

It’s #MentalHealthMonday, and I’ve been thinking a lot about how self-care isn’t always what you expect—it’s not just rest, it’s sometimes about chasing the dopamine. With ADHD, that’s how I stay balanced. This week, I’ve been really into painting…

For #MentalHealthMonday: Let’s talk ADHD, hyperfixation, and finding joy in new hobbies. Recently, I’ve been deep into building and painting Warhammer 40k miniatures—it’s such a calming process. Planning the build and paint scheme, then juggling both, almost helps quiet…
